Marilyn Henrion's mixed media works are included in museum, corporate, and private collections worldwide. She is also represented in the Smithsonian Institution's Archives of American Art. Born in New York City in 1932, she is a graduate of Cooper Union and Fordham University. Starting as a painter, at one point early on it became clear to the artist that textiles spoke to her in a way that paint never did, and that became her medium of choice. Comfortable with abstract as well as more representational imagery, the artist's mixed media process begins with her original photographs which she manipulates in the computer before printing them on fabric and hand quilting the resultant image. The end results are works that truly blurs the lines between photography, painting, and textile art. After a lifetime as a Greenwich Village resident, Henrion relocated to Plano Texas in 2022 at the age of 90 where she continues her studio practice.
