Alexandra Farber is a choreographer, dancer, and visual artist. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, she has resided in Texas since 2011. Farber trained in dance from a young age, primarily with the Maryland Youth Ballet under Hortensia Fonseca and Michelle Lees, but with additional training from the School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet School, Kaatsbaan, and Houston Ballet Academy.

She joined Houston Ballet II after graduation and joined Texas Ballet Theater one year later. In her 11th season with Texas Ballet Theater, she is now a principal dancer, where her repertoire of works performed include principal roles is: Ben Stevenson's Dracula, Twilight, Four Last Songs, Five Poems, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sylvia, Starcrossed, and Cinderella; Balanchine's Serenade and Allegro Brilliante; Wheeldon's Dance a Grand Vitesse (DGV); Forsythe's In the Middle Somewhat Elevated; Watkins' Crash; McName's Rift; Originated principal roles in Cong's The Firebird (Tserevna) and Stevenson's A Midsummer Night's Dream (Hermia). ​

Farber has had a lifelong interest in choreography. In recent years she has presented several works as well as worked on commercial choreography projects. These works include: Three Portraits, Inside Voices, and The Way We Change for the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, ‘Runaway’ music video for vocal artist Laura Brehm, She Opened the Door at The Katzen Arts Center of American University, Solitude pas de deux, The Last Rose of Summer for Texas Ballet Theater, and commercial work for Castorena Films and Corsiva Jewelry.​

Farber considers her visual art practice to be inseparable from her movement art practice of dance and choreography, and has honed these skills alongside it. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with juror selections from Allison Glenn, Naron Tintamusik, Jennifer Dasal, Jessica Bingham, and others.

Farber achieved her Bachelor of Psychology, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020. When she is not creating, she enjoys reading surrealist fiction, petting her cat, and taking long nature walks. She looks forward to marrying her fiancé, fellow artist Preston Light, in October 2022.
