TJAA welcomes all musicians and music enthusiasts for a unique experience based on traditional Jewish music and beliefs. If you are not Jewish, you are most welcome! Learn and draw new inspiration to give breath to new music creations.

Our Instructor – Joe Buchanan

Texas-born and southern-raised, Joe Buchanan makes country music that is steeped in Torah. Struggling with religion and his place in the world, a revelation from his wife about her Jewish identity changed everything. After joining the Tribe, Joe released his debut album, “Unbroken,” which sparked nationwide tours, an original Shabbat service, a thriving online community, and a workshop about the choice to become Jewish. Gather up for good times with his latest release, “Back From Babylon” and get everything else on his website:

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for experienced songwriters wanting to learn different approaches and techniques. Joe will share his songwriting process, method, and inspiration. Non-experienced songwriters are welcome to register if wanting to observe and learn more about the process.

Workshop Structure

The workshop will consist of a songwriting session followed by a songwriting circle, group work, and an optional open mic with peer review. Lunch will be provided.

Participants are encouraged to bring their instrument if they would like, but it is not required.
