The Marilyn Henrion and Edward Henrion collections are under the stewardship of Gary Riggs Design Gallery, Dallas, Texas. The Gallery houses and presents an extensive inventory of both artists’ work and works with collectors, designers, and institutions on acquisitions and placements.
At 94, artist Marilyn Henrion has named Gary Riggs Design Gallery the collection steward for the extensive bodies of work created by Henrion and her late husband, artist Edward Henrion. The arrangement brings hundreds of works spanning decades of artistic production under the Gallery’s care, where they will be preserved, presented, exhibited, and placed with collectors and institutions.
AN ARTISTS NIGHTMARE………AN ARTISTS DREAM
At age 94, as my mortality looms closer every day I, like every artist, cannot help but wonder what will happen to my collection after I am gone. Not wanting to burden our families with the tasks of managing, storing, and dispersing of hundreds of works, and fearing that the trash bins are waiting, leads to more than a few sleepless nights. That is doubly true when one is dealing with not one, but two collections, that of my late husband, Edward Henrion, as well as mine. Add the fact that I continue to produce new works at the same dizzying pace, it is a lot to think about. Imagine that, through a a series of incredible circumstances*, a Gary Riggs appears, a legendary designer in his own right, who appreciates both bodies of works and proposes an arrangement that is an artist’s “consummation devoutly to be wished”, and that hopefully will be a win/win situation for both parties and for all art appreciators and collectors. The fact that the work of Edward Henrion will now be shared with the world for the first time adds to the joy of the occasion for me.
After a lifetime of creating and caring for our work, I have entrusted Gary Riggs Gallery with the stewardship of both my collection and Ed’s. Gary and his team will house, present, and place the work while I continue creating, exhibiting and marketing my work independently as before. It gives me enormous satisfaction to know that these bodies of work will be cared for, seen, and thoughtfully placed for years to come.

The works can be seen by the public at Gary Riggs Design Showroom Monday through Friday from 9 to 5.
